This experience spans an array of infrastructure projects in a variety of sectors. Notable project examples include: mine development (Casino Mine, YK; Red Mountain Underground Gold Project, BC); rapid transit (Evergreen Line, BC; VivaNext Yonge Street Rapidway Project, ON); hydroelectric power supply (Aishihik Generating Station, Yukon; Site C Clean Energy Project, BC); transmission line development (Columbia Valley Transmission Line Project, Atlin Hydro Expansion Project, BC); and transportation infrastructure (Gordie Howe International Crossing, ON).

He is a specialist in the environmental, regulatory, social and financial aspects of the natural resources sector and has held senior executive and board positions with several Canadian mining companies and with the Government of Canada over this career. Michael is the Founding Partner of Falkirk Environmental, serves as Vice President, Sustainability and External Affairs with Talisker Resource Ltd. and is on the Board of Advisors of Resolve, a prominent US based non-governmental organization focused on sustainability. He is also the recent former Chair of the Board of Ridley Terminals Inc., and was previously the Chair of the Board of Governors at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and the Association for Mineral Exploration (AME) and President and CEO of the Mining Association of British Columbia.

Max Brownhill is a senior professional with strong experience providing environmental leadership for large-scale mining, oil and gas, utility and transportation projects. He has produced successful results in environmental assessments, project management, regulatory affairs, permitting, community and First Nations engagement. Max’s experience includes providing support during the exploration, engineering, construction, and closure phases of the project development cycle.
Max is currently active as the Mine Manager on the Britannia Mine Remediation Project; the EA Project Manager for IDM Mining’s Red Mountain Underground Gold Project; and consulting as the Permitting Lead for Ascot Resource’s Premier Gold Mine in Stewart, BC.

Christy is a member of the Komoks First Nation and a highly skilled and accomplished professional with 22 years of proven expertise. Her work is deeply rooted in reconciliation and decolonizing the approach to ways of doing business. She specializes in developing long lasting relations, consultation, and engagement, 8e/8f assessments (socioeconomics), reports and management plans that accompany permits and the Environmental Assessment process. Christy has experience in negotiations, strategic planning, risk assessments, facilitation, and mediation. She is recognized for her professional and personal understanding of Indigenous worldviews.
MSc, PEng. Water Stewardship Practice Lead
As an experienced water resources engineer, Apurva brings 16 years of combined engineering, environmental consulting, international development and applied research experience to Falkirk. Apurva adopts a client-focused approach and enjoys developing long-term relationships, with a track record of building and leading a dedicated technical client service team over several years. He enjoys working with multi-disciplinary teams, taking on project and team management responsibilities, and has mentored hydrologists and other water specialists. Apurva has led complex water resources projects and delivered integrated water management plans, water quantity assessments, watershed studies, reservoir operations models, water balances, hydrological models, hydrometric monitoring studies, environmental assessments, regulatory permitting applications, climate change assessments, conceptual designs and pre-feasibility design studies. While based in Ontario, Apurva has lived and worked in several Canadian jurisdictions through his career (Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia) and maintains an active professional engineering licence in Ontario and British Columbia.

Kate is a registered Professional Engineer and regulatory specialist with 22 years’ experience in the mining industry. Kate’s experience was gained in mining operations, engineering consulting, and regulatory positions with significant time in senior leadership roles. Her experience spans all phases of mining; exploration, project development, regulatory approvals, construction, operations, and care and maintenance compliance. Kate is also a tailings engineer with significant tailings management and oversight experience, which is a critical area to achieve operational excellence in mining. She brings a key understanding of both operations and regulation to assist clients with achieving sustainable and compliant projects.
