Michael is a founding partner of Falkirk and is an accomplished professional with 25 years of experience working at senior leadership levels in the natural resources sector within BC, across Canada and internationally. He is a specialist in regulatory issues for mining projects and operations and has led the environmental assessment, permitting and government affairs for many projects in western and northern Canada and internationally. Michael also recently served as Chair of the Board of Ridley Terminals Inc., a Federal Crown Corporation, and on several public company boards of directors. Michael was the former President and CEO of the Mining Association of British Columbia, a Senior Policy Director with Natural Resources Canada, Chair of Board of the Association for Mineral Exploration (AME) and the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). Michael is also registered as a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) with the Institute of Professional Environmental Practice, USA.

Michael is also the co-author of the best-selling book “Weaving Two Worlds – Economic Reconciliation Between Indigenous Peoples and the Resource Sector” and is a noted commentator and speaker on issues relating to mining, sustainability, reconciliation, and public policy.
